The Public — Reporter Oh Hong-ji. The Cheongju City Symphony Orchestra, led by artistic director and principal conductor Kim Kyung-hee, will present its 202nd subscription concert, \"Melodies on Canvas — Pictures at an Exhibition,\" at 7:30 p.m. on May 21 in the main hall of the Cheongju Arts Center.

The program pairs Sergey Rachmaninoff's sweeping lyricism with Modest Mussorgsky's distinctive musical voice, offering listeners an experience that evokes visual art through sound.

The evening opens with Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in D minor.

Renowned for its technical demands and dense musical textures, the concerto will feature pianist Ilya Rashkovsky as soloist. He is expected to deliver a performance that combines emotional depth with virtuosic brilliance.

The orchestra will then perform Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition in the orchestration by Maurice Ravel.

Full of vivid scenes and colorful orchestral writing, the piece is designed to give audiences the sensation of strolling through an exhibition.
