Donald Trump pressed Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and signaled the possibility of large-scale strikes on Iranian power plants and other energy infrastructure.
On the 5th, local time, Trump posted on Truth Social that Tuesday (the 7th) would be "the day of power plants, the day of bridges" for Iran, and added, "Open the damn (Hormuz) Strait, or you'll live in hell."
He warned that everything would come together on the 7th and produce an unprecedented event.
He also taunted, "Praise Allah."
Trump's remarks suggested that if Iran does not reopen the strait, the temporary pause on strikes against power and energy facilities would end on the 7th and could be followed by large-scale attacks.
The "7th" he referenced corresponds to the morning of the 8th in Korean time.
Meanwhile, he said he will hold a press briefing at the White House with military officials at 1 p.m. local time on the 6th (2 a.m. KST on the 7th).
Observers say the briefing is likely intended to commend the successful search-and-rescue of a pilot who had been pursued by Iran. Because the briefing falls on the day the attack moratorium expires, analysts expect more specific comments about future U.S. action toward Iran.
