Reuters and other outlets reported that Russia’s large-scale air campaign entered a second day, cutting power across Ukrainian cities and producing multiple casualties.
In the early hours of March 25, Russian strikes damaged an energy facility in the Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine.
Local officials said damage to distribution equipment left about 150,000 households without power.
Russian strikes also struck Odesa, the country’s southern logistics hub, damaging six buildings and starting fires.
One civilian inside a building was killed and at least one other person was wounded.
The day before, Russian forces launched more than 800 drones and missiles across Ukraine, signaling the start of a spring offensive.
The barrage — which included ballistic and cruise missiles — damaged homes and trains and killed five civilians.
Lviv’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, also sustained damage.
Ukraine has carried out counterstrikes focused on Russian energy infrastructure.
Russian officials said Ukrainian strikes hit Baltic ports that serve as export hubs for fertilizer and oil, naming the ports of Rust and Luga.
