Pope Leo XIV said he was concerned by the deteriorating situation in the Middle East and renewed his call for a cease-fire.

On the 25th (local time), Reuters reported that while returning to the Vatican Apostolic Palace from his Castel Gandolfo residence, Pope Leo XIV told reporters, "I want to appeal once again for a cease-fire."

He added, "We must seek a peaceful solution through dialogue, not weapons."

He warned that hatred is rising and violence is intensifying. "Many people have died, and more than 1 million people have been forced to leave their homes," he said. "I hope all authorities will genuinely work through dialogue to resolve the situation."

As the first U.S.-born pope, Leo XIV has repeatedly called for an end to the fighting. He has avoided naming specific parties, instead underscoring the need for diplomacy and peaceful solutions.
