On March 14, the People Power Party condemned North Korea’s ballistic missile launch into the East Sea, calling it a direct threat to security on the Korean Peninsula.
Spokesperson Cho Yong-sul said in a statement that the launch, carried out immediately after the United States signaled a willingness to engage in talks, amounted to a brazen challenge to the international community’s peaceful efforts.
Cho urged Seoul to abandon a passive posture toward North Korea’s blunt military provocations and to demonstrate to the international community a clear, firm resolve not to tolerate illegal acts.
He also called for tighter coordination with international partners to ensure Pyongyang understands that it will gain nothing from such illegal provocations.
