Vance said the operation met its objectives and that the administration does not seek a prolonged conflict.
He said operations would continue for a short period, and that U.S. forces are expected to withdraw soon.
\"I think we can confidently say we've achieved our military objectives. The president intends to sustain operations for the time being so that, after we withdraw, we won't have to undertake them again for a long time. We will withdraw from there soon.\"
But military tensions have risen: about 3,500 additional U.S. troops have been sent to the region.
U.S. Central Command said Navy and Marine forces aboard the amphibious assault ship Tripoli have arrived in the region and are operating alongside a range of tactical assets.
While continuing diplomatic engagement with Iran, the U.S. has also bolstered forces to prepare for potential ground operations.
There is also speculation that the relief aircraft carrier, the USS George H.W. Bush, could join operations against Iran.
Israel says it plans to complete strikes on all of Iran's key military‑industrial facilities within days.
「Brig. Gen. Efi Dephrin / Israel Defense Forces spokesman (local time, 28th)」 \"We can complete strikes on all of Iran's key military‑industrial facilities within days. That would destroy most of Iran's military production capacity. It will take the Iranian regime a long time to rebuild it.\"
He added that Israel has struck roughly 90% of the Iranian facilities used to develop weapons that threaten Israel.
