With no clear end in sight to the conflict with Iran, Israeli officials have outlined a possible timeline for the regime's downfall.
Senior Israeli officials and security leaders said they cannot predict how long operations will run and warned the regime's collapse could take as long as a year.
Israel's public broadcaster Kan reported that, following a recent security briefing, cabinet ministers said, "We expect the joint military operation to end soon, but it will take more time for the regime to fully collapse."
Israel's current strategy is to maintain military pressure until Iranians can drive out their rulers. As a result, airstrikes against Iran are likely to continue for the time being.
Analysts also say Israel is having difficulty reading U.S. President Trump's true intentions.
Meanwhile, Israeli media have repeatedly reported that Mojtaba Khamenei, named Iran's supreme leader, may have been wounded.
They have not confirmed when or how he was wounded, but point to an Israeli strike on a bunker in central Tehran and note that Iranian state television has referred to Mojtaba as a janbaz, a term for a wounded war veteran.
[Iran state TV host] (Mojtaba) is a 'janbaz' of the Ramadan War and a man who carries on the proud, steadfast path of this land's martyrs.
On the 9th, the Assembly of Experts formally announced the succession it had delayed over fears of assassination. Since then, Mojtaba has neither spoken publicly nor appeared at official events.
