Iran said Israel violated the cease-fire and warned it would block tankers from transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iran’s Fars news agency, an Iranian military official told the outlet on the 8th (local time) that the Israeli military is continuing its offensive in Lebanon. The official accused Israel of breaking the cease-fire by sustaining attacks on Lebanon and resistance forces, and warned Tehran would block tanker transit through the Strait of Hormuz and launch military operations against mainland Israel.
Earlier that morning, following a dramatic cease-fire agreement between the U.S. and Iran, two tankers had been granted permission by Iranian authorities and passed safely through the Strait of Hormuz. Fars later reported, however, that tanker traffic was halted again after Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.
The agency added that senior Iranian military leaders suspect President Donald Trump cannot control Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They also allege that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) is aware of the Israeli strikes but is turning a blind eye.
The Israeli military said it carried out large-scale airstrikes targeting Hezbollah facilities, including in Beirut. The military reported that roughly 50 warplanes dropped about 160 bombs in roughly 10 minutes. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said the strikes killed dozens and wounded hundreds.
