Iranians Flood the Streets After Cease-fire Announcement[Yonhap News material][Yonhap News material]

Iranian officials say the United States has accepted their 10-point proposal tied to a two-week cease-fire between the two countries.

President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior Iranian officials insist the U.S. had little choice but to accept the terms. They warned that Iran’s supreme leader would withhold approval of any cease-fire unless Washington formally signs on to the package.

On the 7th (local time), a State Department spokesperson dismissed Tehran’s claim, calling the 10 points a list of demands Pakistan transmitted. The White House echoed that assessment, saying the list is a basis for discussion rather than a finalized agreement.

Iran’s demands included ▲a complete end to aggression against Iran and its allied resistance organizations (the axis of resistance); ▲withdrawal of U.S. forces from the Middle East and prohibitions on attacks or combat postures against Iran from regional bases; ▲a two-week, Iran-managed safe-passage protocol imposing daily transit limits through the Strait of Hormuz; and ▲the full lifting of all U.S. and U.N. sanctions on Iran.

They also sought ▲creation of an investment fund to compensate Iran for war damage; ▲a formal Iranian pledge not to develop nuclear weapons; ▲negotiations on uranium-enrichment levels with recognition of Iran’s enrichment rights; ▲bilateral and multilateral peace agreements with Middle Eastern countries that align with Iran’s interests; ▲expanded non-aggression guarantees for all members of the axis of resistance; and ▲the termination of all U.N. Security Council and IAEA resolutions against Iran, along with Security Council guarantees for any resulting agreements.

Taken together, the 10 points published by Iranian media appear unlikely to win easy U.S. acceptance.
