Around 4:03 p.m. on the 16th, authorities received a report that an elementary-school girl identified only as A was struck below the neck by an object believed to be a projectile while at a playground in Buk-gu, Daegu.
Military officials said she was taken to a civilian hospital, where clinicians removed the object. She was discharged and is in stable, non–life-threatening condition.
A military firing range is located about 1.4 km (0.87 miles) from the scene, and officials say small-arms live-fire training was conducted there that day.
A military official said the service is coordinating closely with relevant agencies to determine whether the live-fire training was connected to the incident and will take appropriate measures based on the investigation's findings.
