Army Chief of Staff Kim Gyu-ha met on April 23 at the Army headquarters in Gyeryongdae, Chungcheongnam Province, with the army chiefs of staff from four Commonwealth countries who came to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gapyeong. The delegations discussed measures to deepen military cooperation. The four Commonwealth nations deployed forces to Korea under a U.N. resolution during the Korean War and have observed annual commemorations each April timed to the Battle of Gapyeong. For the 75th anniversary this year, the army chiefs from the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand visited South Korea together for the first time. Kim opened the meeting by expressing deep gratitude for the participating countries’ sacrifices and service, saying their commitment helped lay the foundation for South Korea’s postwar development. Attendees agreed that, amid a more complex security environment, close cooperation among allies is increasingly vital to preserving peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and to addressing regional security challenges. Kim is scheduled to attend the 75th anniversary ceremony on April 24 to pay tribute to veterans and bereaved families. #Army #Military #KimGyuHa #War Yonhap News TV inquiries and tips: KakaoTalk/LINE jebo23 Chaeyeon Lee (touche@yna.co.kr)
