[Sports Seoul | Reporter Yoon Dong-eon] News of actor Lee Sang-bo’s death prompted his agency to open a fact-check.
On March 27, KMG told reporters it is verifying the circumstances and will issue a statement once that process is complete. The agency has not disclosed the specific cause of death.
Earlier, a media outlet reported that Lee died on March 26. According to that report, police who responded to a family call discovered him at the scene; authorities say the exact cause of death is still under investigation.
Born in 1981, Lee made his acting debut in 2006 on the KBS drama The Invisible Man, Choi Jang-soo. He went on to appear in series such as The Prime of Daughters-in-Law, Bad Love, Private Life, Miss Monte Cristo, and Elegant Empire. He also added film credits including Kisarazu Cat’s Eye: World Series and Secretly, Greatly.
Last year he signed with KMG and signaled his intent to resume his career. The sudden news, roughly a year after that move, has left colleagues and fans reeling.
In 2022, Lee was investigated on suspicions of drug use, but prosecutors cleared him after test results found no evidence. He returned to acting in 2023 with Elegant Empire. hellboy321@sportsseoul.com
