The new tvN weekend drama How to Become a Building Owner in South Korea (written by Oh Han-gi, directed by Lim Pil-seong; hereafter Building Owner) premieres March 14. The series follows a debt-strapped building owner who becomes involved in a staged kidnapping to protect his family and property, setting off a tense, suspenseful chain of events. The star-studded cast — Ha Jung-woo, Lim Soo-jung, Kim Jun-han, Jung Soo-jung and Shim Eun-kyung — has heightened expectations.
From the first episode the show features high-profile special casting. Kim Nam-gil agreed to the cameo out of friendship with Ha Jung-woo. He plays a pivotal role in the event that opens the series and lends support to Ha as the actor returns to TV drama after 19 years.
In the series, Kim Nam-gil portrays Kim Gyun, the younger brother of Kim Seon (Lim Soo-jung) and the brother-in-law of Gi Su-jong (Ha Jung-woo). A dependable presence for his sister, Kim Gyun is as close to his brother-in-law as a brother. Working in the violent-crimes unit, he launches an investigation when Gi Su-jong faces losing his building at auction — a probe that proves decisive.
Released stills highlight the tight chemistry between Ha Jung-woo and Kim Nam-gil as on-screen family. One shot captures Gi Su-jong confiding in his brother-in-law; the two actors sync with a single look, delivering a natural brother-in-law dynamic.
