[Medical Today = Reporter Kim Mi-kyung] Shinsegae Tomboy announced on the 24th that it will offer voluntary refunds for 13 down jackets from women’s labels VOV and J.Cut after discovering the items contained duck down instead of the advertised goose down.
The issue came to light during joint quality inspections with Shinsegae International. The affected pieces—produced for the 2024 winter season—include nine items from VOV and four from J.Cut that tested positive for duck down.
The investigation found that one partner, referred to as Company A, submitted falsified down test reports to Shinsegae Tomboy and used an unverified filling supplier without proper quality controls.
Shinsegae Tomboy immediately halted sales of the affected items, recalled products in circulation, cut ties with the supplier, and said it will pursue legal action.
The full list of refundable products is available on the Shinsegae Tomboy website. Customers with refund questions should contact the company’s customer center.
The company also posted an apology from CEO William Kim and confirmed it will carry out voluntary refunds for the impacted items.
In his statement, CEO William Kim said, “To prevent this from happening again and restore trust, we will strengthen step-by-step quality checks throughout production, completely overhaul our supplier management system, and fundamentally improve our quality-control processes.”
He added, “We sincerely apologize to customers who were inconvenienced and to everyone who has supported VOV and J.Cut.”
