Jensen Huang, known for his black leather jackets — how much did this one cost?

As Nvidia has become a defining company of the AI era, all eyes have turned once again to Jensen Huang’s signature look: a black leather jacket he frequently wears at public events.

On the 5th (local time), Huang stepped onstage about 10 minutes late at Nvidia’s live presentation during CES 2026 at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas. The black leather jacket he wore naturally stole the spotlight.

The jacket was a showy biker style with crocodile-pattern embossing. Lights caught its glossy finish every time he moved. Even when the event experienced a prompt delay due to an internet outage, his jacket kept everyone’s attention.

The piece appears to be the Swiss luxury label Philipp Plein’s Crocodile Embossed Biker Jacket. Made from 100% calf leather, it’s reported to retail for roughly 7.81–8.40 million KRW (about $5,858–$6,300).

Huang’s love of leather jackets isn’t new. In October last year, he arrived in his signature black leather jacket for the now-famous chimaek (chicken-and-beer) meeting with Lee Jae Yong, chairman of Samsung Electronics, and Chung Eui-sun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group.

At Nvidia’s GTC developer conference in San Jose, California, in March 2024, Huang again wore a black jacket. That jacket was reported to be the Tom Ford&re; “Tejus Lizard Embossed Leather Jacket,” released in 2023 and priced at $8,999 USD (about 13 million KRW).

Huang has long paired a black leather jacket with a black T-shirt and black jeans for official appearances. He kept that look for developer events and global conferences and even on the cover of Time magazine’s 'Man of the Year' in 2021. At a 2016 event, he jokingly introduced himself as “the man in the leather jacket.”

The New York Times, citing a spokesperson for Huang, reported that he has maintained the leather-jacket look for at least 20 years. International outlets view the jacket as a deliberate image strategy that sets him apart from other big-tech leaders who often opt for hoodies or casual wear. Tech outlet Tom’s Hardware noted, “Jensen Huang&re;'s leather jacket effectively differentiates him from big-tech CEOs who commonly wear hoodies.”

So why does Huang stick with leather jackets? He hasn’t spelled out a single reason for adopting the look at public events, but in a 2023 interview with HP he said his wife and daughter had a major influence on his style choices.
