Slated for Spring/Summer 2026 via ASICS, Issey Miyake and select retailers, the release is rooted in mutual respect for each brand's technical prowess and craftsmanship. Revealed at the IM MEN 2026 Spring/Summer show during Paris Fashion Week, HYPER TAPING™ is the product of deep research into the foot and human movement — a fresh take on everyday footwear that feels equal parts science and style.
Bold, innovative design steals the spotlight — taping aesthetics reimagined for sneakers
HYPER TAPING™ grew from a fresh reinterpretation of ASICS’s iconic stripe. The designers wove the concept of taping — the athletic technique used to stabilize the body and support motion — directly into the shoe’s structure. A wrestling shoe outsole is extended up under the upper to create a wraparound hold that literally feels like your foot is taped in, delivering impressive stability. The sole’s aggressive grip, inspired by the unique structure of a lizard’s foot, makes a striking visual statement. Thick, sculptural elastic bands that hug the foot become the collection’s unmistakable visual signature.

ASICS has long stood on the belief that a healthy body fosters a healthy mind, and its ASICS Institute of Sport Science continues to push research into the body, motion and footwear. MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO partnered with ASICS to study the foot, then translated those insights into a wearable taping concept. The teams reworked the insole for all-day comfort, applied a wrestling outsole, and developed a new last to optimize foot shape — all moves that showcase their combined expertise and point toward future directions in footwear design.

HYPER TAPING™ aims to be both avant-garde and accessible. For long hours on your feet, the shoe pairs a responsive FLYTEFOAM PROPEL insole with a soft Ortholite® sockliner, delivering comfort even with a relatively thin sole. The upper mixes leathers and mesh, and the silhouette arrives in three colorways: Green/Blue (highlighted by the signature fluorescent green), Black/Black, and Gray/Gray. With a timeless aesthetic crafted to slot seamlessly into daily life, this release is poised to capture the attention of fashion lovers worldwide.
