[Sports Seoul | Reporter Jo Seon-gyeong] Actress Kim Young-ok fought back tears as she comforted fellow actor Park Won-sook, who lost her only son.
On the 29th, Kim posted a video titled 'Park Won-sook’s Namhae Home Revealed — Full Interior Renovation | Subscriber Giveaway!' on her YouTube channel 'Kim Young Ok.'
That day, Kim traveled to Namhae to visit Park. They met at Park’s favorite seafood restaurant, and though it had been a long time since they last saw each other, their conversation flowed naturally, as if they’d seen one another the day before.
Over the meal, Kim gently brought up Park’s personal history. “Marriage must have had its good moments, but didn’t it also bring a lot of hardship?” she said. “There was something I saw about you that shocked me — it made me so sad. I didn’t want to touch it because I was afraid it would make it hurt more.”
Park replied, “I know. I know it all too well. Just because I don’t talk about it doesn’t mean it’s not there.” Park lost her only son in a car accident in 2003.
Kim choked up and faltered, saying, “It was during Pearl Necklace... he was my only one,” before trailing off. Park responded calmly, “It wouldn’t matter if you had ten — it’s the same.”
Kim went on: “Losing a child is something you bury in your heart — it’s different from losing a parent. Even memories of my parents, which once tormented me, have faded. I take out photos of my mother when she was young and tell her, ‘I’m going now,’ to keep the memory from slipping away. Sometimes it feels crazy, like I’m possessed — but I do it to keep going.” Her words hung in the air. Park nodded and said, “Right now, every moment is so precious.”
