The Daesan-myeon park golf course in Uichang-gu, Changwon, has just been officially certified, elevating it to national facility status.
On the 17th, Changwon Metropolitan City held a plaque-unveiling ceremony at the Daesan-myeon park golf course to celebrate certification from the Korea Park Golf Association. About 30 people attended, including Acting Mayor Jang Geum-yong and officials from the Facilities Corporation.
Last November, the Daesan park golf course passed the association’s inspection and earned certification as a two-course, 36-hole facility. The certification runs through November 2028, meaning the venue now meets standards to host nationwide competitions.
Courses 1 and 2 (72 holes), which had been closed for turf maintenance, will reopen on the 20th—ten days ahead of the original schedule.
The city also invested approximately 590 million KRW (approximately $442,500) to build a new 22-hole training facility. Once the turf has taken root, the training center will open to residents in July.
Beginning on the 20th, Changwon plans to sequentially reopen other park golf courses, including the Buk-myeon course for people with disabilities, as well as Gapo, Sosa, Hogae, and Yongwon.
