Among female international travelers, Korean women took the most trips. Analysts say the rise of sharing travel photos and videos on social media has helped fuel that demand.
On March 11, Trip.com Group surveyed 3,500 women worldwide for International Women's Day and found that, among women who traveled abroad at least once last year, Korean women traveled most frequently among the countries surveyed. The company did not disclose exact trip counts.
Last year, Korean women’s top overseas picks were Osaka and Fukuoka in Japan. Flight bookings and search interest from Korean women rose 37% and 65% year over year, respectively, indicating a sharp increase in outbound travel demand.
Experts point to a social media–driven travel culture as reinforcing this trend. A 2025 survey by travel research firm Consumer Insight found that “uploaders” who post their travel experiences online also tend to take more trips overall.
When choosing destinations, safety ranked highest for female travelers. Women also had strong influence over family trips: many led family travel planning and showed a high willingness to pay extra for family-friendly options such as guaranteed family seating on planes, family packages, and connecting rooms.
As sharing travel experiences on social media spreads, travel itself is shifting into an activity centered on creating and sharing memories. With more travel content captured in photos and videos, demand for travel continues to grow.
