[SPOTV News=Jamsil, Shin Won-cheol] Moon Dong-ju, one of the KBO League’s top power pitchers, was roughed up in the Korean Series rematch with the LG Twins. He failed to complete four innings and was pulled early. Consecutive wild pitches — charged in part to catcher Choi Jae-hoon — factored into the scoring, and Choi was replaced. The Kim Seo-hyun–Heo In-seo battery finished the fourth inning.

Moon started for Hanwha on April 21 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul and lasted 3 2/3 innings, surrendering four hits, three walks and two strikeouts while allowing five runs (three earned) before being removed. It was his shortest outing this season; his previous low was four innings in his April 2 season debut against KT, when he gave up seven hits and five runs and took the loss.

Through three innings he had been sharp, issuing just one walk and yielding one hit while keeping the Twins off the board. In the first, he walked Moon Seong-ju with one out but escaped further damage by retiring Austin Dean and Moon Bo-kyung on flyouts. In the second, he relied on a 6-4-3 double play to end the frame, and he worked a clean third inning with a 1-2-3 sequence.

The fourth inning was where things unraveled. Leadoff hitter Moon Seong-ju opened with a double to left. Austin Dean followed with a grounder to third for the first out, leaving a runner at second, but walks to Moon Bo-kyung and Oh Ji-hwan quickly loaded the bases.

A grounder by Cheon Seong-ho to short turned into an error, and a wild pitch during Song Chan-eui’s at-bat allowed the pressure to continue. Song delivered a two-run RBI single that produced the fourth run. Another wild pitch during Lee Joo-heon’s plate appearance preceded Shin Min-jae’s RBI single, which accounted for the fifth run.

With the score 0-5, Hanwha’s bench made a decisive move. After Shin’s RBI, manager pulled Moon and summoned Kim Seo-hyun. Catcher Choi Jae-hoon was also replaced by Heo In-seo.

Hanwha chipped away in the top of the fifth against Song Seung-gi. Leadoff batter Shim Woo-joon drew a walk, and after two outs Moon Hyun-bin ripped a triple to bring home the club’s first run.
