Gwangju City Corporation Secures Thrilling 25-24 Victory Over Busan in Women's Handball H-League

[Sports Today reporter Lee Sang-pil] Gwangju Urban Corporation picked up its first win in eight games.

Gwangju Urban Corporation defeated Busan Facilities Corporation 25-24 on the 12th in the Shinhan SOL Bank 2025-26 Handball H League women's match at Samcheok Civic Gymnasium in Gangwon Province.

The victory moved Gwangju to 5 wins, 1 draw and 14 losses (11 points), placing them seventh. Busan remained third with a 10-3-7 record (23 points).

Gwangju's Kim Seo-jin was named MVP after contributing six goals and one assist. Kim Ji-hyun added five goals, and goalkeeper Yoo Jeong-won finished with nine saves.

For Busan, Yeon Eun-young scored five goals and Kwon Han-na added four, but it wasn't enough to secure the win.

The teams traded momentum throughout the first half. Busan built a 13-10 lead at one stage, but Gwangju rallied to close the half down 13-14.

In the second half, key saves from goalkeeper Yoo helped spark Gwangju's comeback, and the teams were tied at 18-18. The lead changed hands several times after that.

In the end, Gwangju's organized defense and timely saves from Yoo disrupted Busan's rhythm and sealed a thrilling 25-24, one-goal victory.

Meanwhile, Gyeongnam Development Corporation and Daegu Metropolitan City Hall played to a 25-25 draw.

Gyeongnam stayed fourth with a 7-5-8 record (19 points). Daegu remained sixth at 7-3-10 (17 points), confirming their elimination from postseason contention.
