KIU Sports Team Dominates: How 경일대 Women’s Swimming Secured Overall Victory at the 98th Dong-A Swimming Championships

Translation result.[경일대 [Herald Economy (Gyeongsan)=Reporter Kim Byung-jin] Kyungil University’s KIU swim team captured the women’s collegiate title and finished second in the men’s division at the 98th Dong-A Swimming Championships, held April 16–20 at the Gimcheon Indoor Swimming Pool.

The men’s squad finished with 2 golds, 5 silvers and 6 bronzes.

Freshman Jeong Hyo-chan won the 100m butterfly, and freshman Park Jeong-wook took first in the 1500m freestyle. The men’s 400m and 800m freestyle relays and the mixed 400m medley relay each added silver medals for the team.

The women’s team clinched the overall crown with 5 golds, 4 silvers and 1 bronze.

Freshman Seo Yu-bin won the 100m breaststroke, freshman Kang Hyun-ji earned the 100m freestyle title, and senior Yoon Ji-hyun topped the 50m backstroke. The women’s 400m freestyle relay and the mixed 400m medley relay also brought home golds.

Kyungil’s swim program defended its strong form after last year’s meet, where the men’s team finished first overall with 5 golds, 3 silvers and 4 bronzes.

Professor Kwon Jae-yeol, head of the swim team, said the balanced success across individual and relay events was significant and added, “We will keep raising our competitiveness through systematic training.”
