[Herald Economy, Gurye] Park Dae-sung reports that jazz pianist Kim Seong-su will give a solo concert at 7 p.m. on the 25th at the small Ganjeon-myeon theater Music Flows.Kim has lived with CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) for many years, yet he has forged a distinctive musical voice through persistent work and dedication.
Based in the clear-air countryside, he reaches audiences with a delicate touch and deeply felt emotional sensibility.
His playing carries an unshowy but powerful resonance, offering listeners quiet empathy and comfort.
He recently appeared in the tvN drama Useless Lies, performing an insert track that helped introduce jazz to many viewers across the country.
The program, centered on Kim’s newly released original piece Comfort, is designed to give local residents time for rest and recovery through music.
Gurye, ringed by Mount Jiri and celebrated for its natural environment, is home to many who lead quiet lives, yet it offers relatively few cultural performance opportunities.
The area blends longtime farming and working residents with newcomers who have relocated to start new lives, creating a distinct community character.
Music Flows, the organizer, runs a variety of performances and programs to expand residents’ access to music and to create moments when people can pause and reflect on their lives.
“We hope this concert gives residents a chance to look back on their lives and find some comfort,” the organizers said. “Through music, we want to offer both artists and audiences a small moment of consolation and recovery.”
The concert is ticketed by advance reservation. For inquiries and reservations, call (0507-1427-5574).
