[MyDaily = Reporter Park Seo-yeon] As the group CIX announced its disbandment, member Seunghun has decided to retire from music.

On April 30, Seunghun said in a long handwritten letter that he had decided to retire after seven years with CIX.

“Seven years have already passed,” he wrote. “At first I didn’t know much — I just loved the idea of debuting — and it still feels incredible that I spent such a long time with all of you.”

He added, “Looking back, I was lacking in many ways. I was clumsy, I made a lot of mistakes, and there were times I fell short of expectations. But thanks to FIX — who believed in me, cheered for me, and told me it was okay — I was able to become a better person little by little. I am who I am because of FIX. From our debut and for a long time, people said I loved my fans, and communicating with FIX brought me real happiness.”

He went on to say that at some point he began to feel mentally crowded and lost sight of the future, so he couldn’t reach out to fans the way he once did. “If I caused any disappointment to the FIX who waited, I’m truly sorry,” he wrote. “My heart just lacked space; that never meant my love for FIX grew smaller.”

He also thanked the company staff and crew who stood by them. “Thanks to your efforts, I got to this point,” he said.

“After much thought, I will put the name ‘singer’ down for a while and try living a new life offstage as a person,” he wrote. “This isn’t easy to say, but I believe it’s a decision I need right now. I’ve sung and danced since elementary school, so honestly a new life scares me. Still, I’ll try to live earnestly and be myself.”

Seunghun closed his letter: “The time I spent on stage were the brightest moments of my life, and FIX was always at the center of that. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for helping complete my imperfect self. And thank you for walking through my youth with me.”

Earlier, agency C9 Entertainment said on April 29 that CIX will suspend team activities. The agency said it had engaged in months of serious, in-depth discussions with the members about continuing as a group, but everyone agreed that suspending team operations is unavoidable at this time.

Born in 1999, Seunghun began training in 2004 as a fourth grader in elementary school. He spent roughly 10 years as a trainee at Cube Entertainment and YG Entertainment. After being eliminated from YG’s “Treasure Box,” he moved to C9 Entertainment and debuted with CIX.

Below is Seunghun's full handwritten letter

To FIX,

Seven years have already gone by.

At first I didn’t know much and I just loved the idea of debuting,

and it still amazes me that we spent such a long time together.

Looking back, I was a very imperfect person.

I was clumsy, I made frequent mistakes, and there were times I didn’t meet expectations,

but thanks to FIX — who believed in me until the end, cheered for me, and told me it was okay —

I gradually became a better person. I am clearly the person FIX made me.

From our debut onward, people often said I was someone who loved my fans, and communicating with FIX made me truly happy.

But at some point I lost inner peace and couldn’t see ahead clearly, so I couldn’t reach out like before.

If I caused any disappointment to the FIX who waited, I’m truly sorry.

My heart lacked space, but that never meant my love for FIX grew smaller.

I also want to thank the company staff and the crew who stayed close to us.

Because of your efforts, I got to where I am now.

After a lot of thought, I’m going to put the name “singer” down for a while

and try living a new life offstage as a person.

This isn’t easy to say, but I believe it’s a decision I need right now.

I’ve sung and danced since elementary school,

so honestly, a new life scares me.

Still, I’ll try to live earnestly and be myself.

The time I spent on stage were the brightest moments of my life, and FIX was always at the center.

Thank you for loving me.

Thank you for helping complete my imperfect self.

And thank you for walking through my youth with me, FIX.

Now we’ll each live our own lives,

but I truly hope FIX will be happy.

If you think of me sometimes,

please smile once and think, “He’s doing well.”

I’ll remember FIX that way, too.

I also want to thank Byung-gon hyung, Yonghee, and Hyunseok, who walked with me for seven years.

Thank you for standing by me through the good times and the hard times.

Thank you for these seven years.

Because of you, I was a very happy Seunghun of CIX.
