[Sports Seoul | Reporter Yoon Dong-eon] BIGBANG is opening a new chapter with its global fanbase to mark the group's 20th anniversary.
On the 1st, the group shared a poster reading 'BIGBANG OFFICIAL 6th V.I.P COMING SOON' across its official social channels, announcing plans to recruit a new fan club. It's the first official fan-club sign-up since the fifth generation in 2015 — roughly an 11-year gap.
The poster spotlights the fandom's lightstick, known as the "Bang-bong." A sea of yellow lightsticks glows in a darkened arena, recalling moments the group and its fans have shared and building anticipation for the 20th-anniversary projects ahead.
The sixth round of fan-club sign-ups will be hosted on BIGBANG's official community on the global fandom platform BiStage. The group recently revamped its official community and social channels to broaden fan communication and aims to deepen engagement with V.I.P. members worldwide through those channels.
YG Entertainment said it launched the official fan-club recruitment to get closer to the longtime supporters who've kept BIGBANG's name alive, and invited fans to look forward to a new 20th-anniversary journey the artists and V.I.P. members will write together.
