[TV Daily reporter Choi Hana] MONSTA X's unit Shownu X Hyungwon has announced a surprise comeback roughly two years and ten months after their last release. Label Starship Entertainment posted a coming‑soon clip for the duo's new mini album, LOVE ME, on its official social channels on the 4th. The teaser pairs striking objects — an apple, a balance scale and falling petals — with the album title emblazoned across the images, stoking curiosity about the record. The release will be their first since the unit's debut mini album, THE UNSEEN, which arrived in July 2023. On that project, Shownu handled choreography while Hyungwon led production, demonstrating the unit's distinct musical strengths. During the hiatus, both members expanded their individual profiles. Shownu reinforced his reputation with steady vocals and commanding performances and broadened his public reach through appearances on variety shows such as Nopogi and Pyeonstorang; he also won the 2024 KBS Entertainment Awards' Digital Content Award. Hyungwon has balanced producing with DJ work and showcased his versatility by serving as an MC at the Asia Star Entertainer Awards in 2025. The pair are currently engaging global audiences on the 2026 MONSTA X world tour [THE X : NEXUS]. Fans are watching to see what new chemistry the unit will unveil. LOVE ME, described as blending delicate expressiveness with intense energy, is slated for release in May. [TV Daily reporter Choi Hana news@tvdaily.co.kr/Photo provided by Starship Entertainment] |
