Boram Group is expanding its pet life-care services to keep pace with rising pet ownership and a growing market. The move is designed to make it easier for Boram Sangjo members to access pet services. The company plans to build a next-generation pet-life platform covering everything from funerals and memorials to travel, resorts, medical devices and welfare counseling.

On May 13, Boram Group said it had signed a memorandum of understanding on May 6 with Modupet Group, a company specializing in total pet care, to \"innovate pet life care.\"

Modupet Group offers life-care services that support pets and their owners across everyday needs. The company runs a range of pet-related businesses centered on pet funeral and memorial services, and including pet travel, specialized vehicle services and training programs for pet welfare managers.

Boram said the partnership responds to rapid changes in the expanding pet market and is intended to increase service convenience for its members.

A February report from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs on projected 2025 pet ownership shows the share of households with pets reached a record 29.2%. About 15.46 million people in South Korea own pets, roughly 29.9% of the total population.

The domestic pet-related market has grown at an average annual rate of 9.5% and is projected to reach 21 trillion KRW (about $15.75 billion) by 2032. In February, the National Assembly passed the Pet-Related Industry Promotion Act, a milestone in the government’s efforts to develop the sector announced roughly two and a half years earlier.

The law establishes a legal framework to comprehensively foster and support areas such as pet food, supplies and services to ensure healthy industry growth.

In March, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety revised enforcement rules of the Food Sanitation Act to address restaurants that allow pets. As of the end of April, the ministry's Food Safety Korea database listed 1,842 pet-friendly establishments nationwide.

Boram Group said the agreement aims to build a next-generation pet-life platform, anticipating more pet-accompanying activities as ownership and market size grow.

Under the agreement, Boram Group will integrate its nationwide infrastructure with Modupet Group’s membership services. Boram plans to launch \"Boram Pet 550,\" a program designed to give members access to a range of Modupet services and benefits.

Boram Pet 550 will allow Boram Sangjo members to access a comprehensive bundle of pet services that combines the company's existing offerings with Modupet Group's care services.

The package will include Boram Sangjo's pet funeral service \"Sky Pet\" and the pet biomarker service \"Petsvia.\" It also covers purchases of equipment such as dry rooms and devices for skin conditions, along with access to Modupet Group's resorts, spas and daycare facilities.

Members will be able to split their benefits: they can maintain their existing funeral plan while prioritizing pet-service offerings, and any fees they use will be deducted from their total payments. That lets members access needed services immediately while preserving the benefits of their original contracts after a promotion ends.

Modupet Group plans to open pilot \"Boram Pet\" information centers in June in Busan, Ulsan and Yangsan. Pet welfare specialists will staff the centers to consult with customers and provide detailed guidance on Boram Pet 550 and Modupet Group’s services, including package contents, how to use them and available benefits.

Both companies said they will explore long-term business linkages beyond a one-off collaboration and consider expanding strategic alliances to diversify pet-care services.

A Boram Group official said, \"As people increasingly treat pets as family members, demand is growing for more sophisticated, professional services. Through our cooperation with Modupet Group, we will introduce premium care services that cover pets' entire lifespans.\"
