Uiwang City announced on April 21 that it will host a pet-culture class, "2026 Uiwang Doggy School," on May 9 at the lawn plaza of Baegun Lake Park.
The program is designed to teach dogs proper behavior and to promote more responsible pet ownership throughout the community.
The school will hold four identical sessions; participants may choose a preferred time slot. Session times are: 1st session, 9:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m.; 2nd session, 10:40 a.m.–11:40 a.m.; 3rd session, 1:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m.; and 4th session, 2:10 p.m.–3:10 p.m.
Programs include group-walk lessons, stress-relief play, and hygiene and grooming classes. The city will also operate a "Problem Behavior Counseling Center," offering roughly 20-minute consultations by appointment from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The city is coordinating the event with the Baegun Lake dog playground, combining training with space where dogs can run freely to enhance participant satisfaction.
Residents may apply through May 7 on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested applicants should follow the designated application link and submit the required form.
Mayor Kim Seong-je described the 2026 Doggy School as "a meaningful opportunity for dogs and their owners to learn and grow together," and said he hopes residents will join with their pets, enjoy the event, and gain practical pet-care knowledge.
Officials say the event is expected to advance pet culture and have a positive impact on the local community.
