Chungnam Province brought some of its top sights straight to Taiwan.
Over April 19–20, the provincial government and the Chungnam Culture & Tourism Foundation invited Taiwanese travel agents and media on a two-day fam tour.
The initiative supports Korean travel operators in creating new Korea-bound packages and aims to boost interest in central Korea—including Chungnam—during the Korea Tourism Organization’s designated Year of Central Tourism.
Roughly 20 participants joined the trip, exploring Gongju’s historic and cultural hotspots: Gongju Sanseong Market, the National Gongju Museum, Nataju Alley, Gongju Hanok Village, and Gongsanseong.
Provincial officials say the Taiwanese guests got a full taste of Baekje heritage and contemporary K-culture, plus local culinary treats—like chestnut desserts made from Gongju’s famous chestnuts.
On April 20, the Taiwanese delegation also took part in a B2B travel product meeting in Sejong. Chungnam Province, the Chungnam Culture & Tourism Foundation, the Cheonan Ramada Encore Hotel, and the Boryeong Festival & Tourism Foundation staffed booths to showcase regional travel assets and explore new product ideas.
A provincial official added, "Now that Taiwanese travel professionals have experienced Gongju—the heart of Baekje culture—firsthand, we expect local agencies to actively develop Chungnam travel products. We will keep collaborating so these efforts turn into real visits by Taiwanese tourists."
