In February 2024, Lee Hi appeared on the YouTube channel BDNS (Korean: 빠더너스) and spoke candidly about the qualities she looks for in a partner.
When asked to choose between someone she likes and someone who likes her, Lee Hi said, "It's best if the person I like also likes me."
Asked whether she prefers celebrities or non-celebrities, she said she prefers people who make music. She added that she values long drives where they can listen to the same music together.
Her remarks have drawn fresh attention after reports emerged about 808 HI RECORDINGS, the label Dok2 and Lee Hi are reportedly launching together, and their growing musical partnership.
Web magazine HIP reported on March 28 via its official channels that the pair are in a romantic relationship. According to the outlet, Lee Hi and Dok2 formalized their relationship with the release of their first single, "You & Me," following the label's launch.
"You & Me" blends lush R&B and hip-hop to convey the artists' emotions and narrative. The single hit streaming platforms at 6 p.m. on the 28th.
The pair have collaborated before. In 2016, during MBC's Infinite Challenge hip-hop project, they took part in the collaborative single "Cheoreom" with Yoo Jae-suk, and later that year Dok2 was featured on Lee Hi's track "FXXK WIT US."
Lee Hi debuted in 2012 with the single "1,2,3,4" and has been praised for her distinctive vocal color. Dok2 has been active as a producer and rapper since 2005 and has built a reputation running independent labels.
