[mdtoday = Reporter Yang Jeong-eui] BigHit Music said on April 28 that BTS's fifth full-length album, ARIRANG, has earned a Platinum certification from France’s record industry association, SNEP.

SNEP awards Platinum certification to albums that reach the equivalent of 100,000 units, combining physical sales, downloads and streaming figures.

With this certification, BTS now has four Platinum-certified albums in France as a group. They previously received the designation for MAP OF THE SOUL: 7, Proof and LOVE YOURSELF 結 ANSWER.

BigHit Music noted that ARIRANG reached the milestone faster than the group's earlier releases. The company said ARIRANG was certified Gold six days after its release and reached Platinum roughly a month later. By comparison, MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 and Proof each took about 14 months to achieve the same certification, a sign of BTS’s growing influence in the French market.

BTS's success extends to Japan as well. "Let Go," a track from their 2018 Japanese studio album, surpassed 100 million cumulative streams last March and earned Platinum streaming certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. Meanwhile, ARIRANG has shipped more than 750,000 copies in Japan, earning Triple Platinum certification.

BTS is continuing its global push with a North American tour. The group opened the tour on April 25 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, and is scheduled to perform at El Paso’s Sun Bowl on May 2 and 3.
