[Alpha Economy = Reporter Kim Danha] K-pop girl group aespa is broadening its musical reach with a new track featuring singer G-Dragon. SM Entertainment announced on the 8th that the group's pre-release single from their second full-length album, "WDA (Whole Different Animal)," will be released on the 11th.

"WDA" is a hip-hop–based dance track propelled by imposing synth bass and a weighty hook. Aespa said the song captures a more solidified arc of the group's growth and marks the official opening of a new chapter in the aespa universe.

G-Dragon appears as a featured artist, enhancing the track's overall polish; he notably wrote his own rap sections for the collaboration. On the 7th, KBS published its first May music-video review results, which revealed his participation in advance and drew public attention.

The artists' connection dates back further. Aespa member Karina appeared in G-Dragon's music video for the title track "Too Bad," released in February last year, helping to lay the groundwork for this collaboration. Aespa also appeared as guests on MBC's variety show "Good Day," where they built a rapport with G-Dragon.

Their pre-release promotional moves also attracted notice. The "WDA" music-video teaser, posted at midnight on the 8th on aespa's official YouTube channel, amplified anticipation with its uncanny atmosphere and the members' intense presence.

With this pre-release single, aespa will kick off full-scale comeback promotions. Their second studio album, "LEMONADE," is scheduled for release on May 29 at 1 p.m., when they will reconnect with fans.
