Actor Kim Nam-gil (47) will make a special appearance in tvN's upcoming weekend drama How to Become a Building Owner in South Korea.

The series premieres on March 14. It follows a debt-ridden building owner who, desperate to protect his family and his property, becomes involved in a staged kidnapping that triggers a tense suspense story. The cast includes Ha Jung-woo, Lim Soo-jung, Kim Jun-han, Jung Soo-jung and Shim Eun-kyung.

The show’s guest lineup is strong from episode one. Kim Nam-gil accepted the cameo out of friendship with Ha Jung-woo and plays a pivotal role in the incident that sets the plot in motion, lending support to his longtime friend as Ha returns to television drama after a 19-year hiatus.

In the series, Kim Nam-gil portrays Kim Gyun, the younger brother of Kim Sun (Lim Soo-jung) and the brother-in-law of Ki Su-jong (Ha Jung-woo). Kim Gyun is a steady, dependable sibling who gets along with his brother-in-law like they’re brothers. As a major-crimes detective, he takes a decisive role investigating the forces behind Ki Su-jong’s looming risk of losing his building at auction.

Their conversations and glances land with an easy, well-tuned rhythm, capturing the close brother-in-law dynamic. Other images show Kim Nam-gil firing a sharp, investigative look, raising questions about what his character uncovers during the probe.

The production team said Kim Nam-gil appears from the first episode as a character who drives a key plotline and will deliver a commanding presence, and they thanked him for turning in a performance that goes beyond a typical cameo.

How to Become a Building Owner in South Korea premieres March 14 at 9:10 p.m. on tvN.
