Uiwang City will reopen the Geumcheoncheon Park Golf Course on April 21, offering residents a safer, more comfortable place to exercise.
Opened last September, the Geumcheoncheon Park Golf Course closed for the winter to allow upgrades. City officials reinforced safety features, reworked hole layouts to balance difficulty, and upgraded drainage so the course is accessible to players of all skill levels.
The nine-hole course was created to strengthen local recreational sports. During a roughly three-month pilot after its initial opening, officials analyzed usage, identified problems and made adjustments based on player feedback.
Renovations included reinforcing safety fences and adjusting hole difficulty to make the course welcoming to both beginners and regular players.
Notably, drainage improvements in sections that previously pooled after rain mean the course should remain playable and comfortable even after heavy downpours.
Mayor Kim Seong-je said, “We expect these upgrades will allow residents to use the facilities more safely and comfortably,” and added, “We will do our best to maintain community sports facilities so everyone can enjoy healthy leisure activities.”
With its reopening, the Geumcheoncheon Park Golf Course is expected to become an important recreational space and to help revive community sports in Uiwang.
