For people living alone in small apartments, compact, multiuse kitchen appliances can be lifesavers—items that improve daily life by making efficient use of limited space. With more people preparing meals in advance and relying on packed lunches, demand is growing for appliances that cook multiple dishes at once and are simple to clean and store.
Against that backdrop, kitchenware brand Tefal has launched the Wide 2-Tier Stainless Electric Steamer, which pairs generous cooking capacity with compact storage. It’s designed to cook multiple dishes simply and healthfully while minimizing post-use clutter.
The unit’s 24 cm (9.4 in) width lets you fit whole, bulky ingredients—like ears of corn or sweet potatoes—without cutting them, and it can even accommodate a mixing bowl or plate for convenient one-step cooking. Its two-tier design provides a total 6 L capacity (about 6.3 qt / 1.6 gal), so you can prepare a variety of dishes at once for a home gathering or family meal, reducing overall prep time.
Using the included accessory steamer tray, you can steam delicate items—such as egg custards or puddings—cleanly and consistently without them collapsing.
The unit disassembles into a lid, first- and second-tier trays, and the main body for storage. Tefal applies a “magic storage” approach: stack the steamer trays inverted on the main body to keep everything compact.
To meet consumer expectations for hygiene and durability, Tefal uses high-quality 304 stainless steel—known for corrosion resistance and longevity—on food-contact parts like the steamer tray and internal screws. Except for the main body, the steamer and lid are dishwasher-safe.
Operation is straightforward thanks to a simple, intuitive dial timer that runs up to 60 minutes, accommodating a wide range of ingredients. A smart external water inlet makes refilling easy without lifting the steamer, and a transparent water-level window lets you check the water at a glance without opening the lid. The steamer’s base also features egg-shaped slots designed to keep eggs stable during cooking.
