Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it held the launch ceremony for the 2026–2027 Suwon Visit Year Promotion Committee and Citizen Task Force, followed by a forum on the three major Suwon Hwaseong festivals, on the 3rd.

The promotion committee and citizen task force—made up of tourism, culture and festival experts alongside local residents—actually held their launch event and forum on the 2nd at the Convention Hall of the Suwon Convention Center.

They’ll provide policy advice and lead promotional efforts to boost tourism in Suwon, expand citizen participation, and uncover fresh tourism content.

In particular, the committee and task force plan to build a citizen-led tourism promotion system to amplify Suwon’s appeal.

The launch program featured the presentation of appointment letters to committee and task force members, an unveiling of the Suwon Visit Year plan, a briefing on the basic plan for the three Suwon Hwaseong festivals, and a formal reading of a resolution.

At the forum that followed, participants exchanged ideas and discussed strategic directions for Suwon tourism, with a focus on developing experiences that encourage visitors to stay longer.

Going forward, the city plans to use the Suwon Visit Year to expand tourism resources by leveraging its mix of history, culture and advanced industry, and to strengthen infrastructure that supports longer-stay tourism to attract both domestic and international visitors.

It also intends to connect festivals with local businesses and cultural content to raise the city’s overall tourism appeal.

“The Suwon Visit Year, created with residents, will be an opportunity to showcase Suwon’s many charms,” Mayor Lee Jae-jun said. “With the participation of the promotion committee and the citizen task force, we will build Suwon into a destination people want to visit again.”
