Hadong County, in South Gyeongsang Province, will launch a service on the 10th that lets visitors check real-time cherry blossom conditions around Hwagae-myeon.
Accessible from the county website’s main page, the service will run through the 6th of next month to handle the annual surge of questions about bloom timing that Hadong’s Ten-ri Cherry Blossom Road gets every March and April.
Launched in 2018, the service aims to spare tourists the guesswork and to showcase Hadong’s vivid cherry blossoms as they come into bloom.
Using Internet of Things technology, the system streams live updates from three spots — including Hwagae Market and the Ten-ri Cherry Blossom Road — straight to your mobile device, and it also provides parking and restroom location details across Hwagae-myeon.
A county official said they hope the blossom tracker will highlight Hadong’s beauty and draw more visitors.
