Miryang, in South Gyeongsang Province, is reinventing itself as a \"stay-and-explore\" destination by expanding festivals, traveler perks, transit-linked programs, and fresh content.

The city is steering away from quick, checklist-style tourism and pushing for longer stays—encouraging visitors to linger and discover the region more deeply.

Lowering travel costs and extending stays: visitor perks = Miryang is rolling out a range of support programs to ease travelers’ costs and encourage longer visits.

For example, the \"Fall for Miryang: Half-Price Trip\" campaign, running April 1 through August 31, refunds 50% of visitors' travel expenses via a Mobile Miryang Love gift certificate. By driving spending on lodging, dining, and local experiences, the program gives travelers tangible savings while energizing neighborhood businesses.

The digital tourist resident card, issued through the Every Corner of Korea app, offers discounts at participating attractions, restaurants, and experience venues. It’s a practical tool for budget-savvy visitors and a smart way to boost foot traffic for local tourism operators.

Easier travel with improved transit = Convenient transportation is crucial for tourism growth. Miryang is capitalizing on strong rail access to add travel-friendly benefits, including 50% off train-fare coupons tied to regional rail travel programs.

Notably, from April 1 through May 31, Miryang was selected for special discounts as part of the Travel Month initiative for population-decline areas. Visitors who come via Korail’s self-guided travel packages and complete the verification process can receive a coupon equal to 100% of their purchased ticket fare.

Also, the \"Heehee Nakrak Miryang City Tour,\" operating every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from April 3 through June 28, makes getting around easy with themed routes covering Samnangjin, the Yeongnam Alps area, and the downtown district.

From April 24–26, the Miryang National Heritage Night Tour offers a fresh way to enjoy historical and cultural sites after dark.

On weekends, programs like Seonbi Pungnyu performances and traditional folk sound plays bring heritage to life. Throughout the year, events such as the Super Festival, the Alien Festival, and a new Spicy Flavor Festival add variety and fun for every kind of traveler.

These new spots are expected to connect with existing sites and become key hubs that help visitors stay longer.

Lee Kyung-sook, head of the Tourism Promotion Division, said, \"Miryang is becoming an even richer travel destination with flagship festivals, visitor benefits, and new content. We will continue expanding policies so visitors can easily enjoy Miryang and stay an extra day to fully experience the area's charm.\"
