Student group bookings jump 27% year-over-year; Incheon rolls out signature educational-travel routes and integrated marketing; blending education and tourism to boost the local economy

Incheon City and the Incheon Tourism Organization have launched the '2026 Incheon Education Travel Recruitment Council' and kicked off a full-scale effort to position Incheon as South Korea's premier destination for educational travel.
The council brings together 25 partners—including specialty travel agencies, accommodations, and hands-on experience venues—to create a lineup of educational travel programs that showcase Incheon's distinct attractions.
On the 1st, the Incheon Tourism Organization reported that last year, thanks to collaboration with the council and an aggressive marketing push, Incheon hosted 394 schools—42,892 students in total—a 27% increase over the previous year.
This year the council plans to design signature Incheon routes and amplify member collaboration through integrated online and offline promotional campaigns.
The council will also offer tangible perks—such as subsidies for vehicle rentals—to elementary, middle and high schools from other regions, making school trips more accessible and easing on-site logistics.
Yu Ji-sang, president of the Incheon Tourism Organization, said, \"Incheon is a living classroom where cutting-edge industries like semiconductors, biotech and robotics sit alongside rich maritime, historical and cultural resources. By working closely with the council, we'll refine our programs and run systematic recruitment efforts to make Incheon a destination students want to return to for educational trips.\"
The city aims to energize weekday, off-season tourism through these school visits while offering students fresh, diverse learning experiences—presenting a new model that seamlessly blends education and tourism.
These efforts are expected to cement Incheon's status as a hub for educational travel and deliver positive economic benefits to the local community.
