Sancheong County is launching the Sancheong Wellness Regional City Tour to encourage visitors to stay longer and dive deeper into the area’s standout attractions.

Funded by the Local Extinction Response Fund, the program offers both day trips and one-night, two-day packages aimed at travelers from the Seoul metropolitan area and major cities like Busan and Daegu.

The itinerary centers on Donguibogam Village and connects it with other highlights—Namsa Yedam Village, Hwangmaesan Mountain, Daewonsa Temple and the Jungsan Duryu Ecotrail—pairing each stop with interactive experiences.

To reinforce stay-based tourism, the county weaves in seasonal, Sancheong-specific offerings: traditional Korean medicine wellness sessions, forest healing activities, a walking theater in Namsa Yedam Village, and festival events.

Detailed itineraries and registration are available on the websites of Dongbaek Travel Agency and Noneunbeop Co., Ltd.

The county expects the wellness regional city tour—linking natural and traditional cultural resources—to help draw more residents and related visitors to the area.

Last year, the program ran 60 times and attracted 1,319 tourists. About 30 local businesses in dining, lodging and activities participated, generating around 140 million KRW (roughly $105,000) in local spending and giving the regional economy a meaningful boost.

This year, the county plans to expand seasonal themes and a wider range of hands-on offerings. It will also ramp up online promotion through social media and travel platforms to attract visitors from the Seoul area and other major regions.

Digital promotion will include influencer familiarization tours and other campaigns to raise awareness of Sancheong’s wellness tourism.

“Sancheong is a leading wellness destination rooted in the natural environment of Jirisan and the traditions of Korean medicine,” said Kim Hae-eun, head of tourism marketing. “Through the Wellness Regional City Tour, we will widely promote Sancheong’s unique healing tourism offerings and work to attract residents and energize the local economy.”
