[iNews24 reporter Seung-yeop Han] On the 14th, Wando County in South Jeolla Province announced that Cheongsando, Asia’s first Slow City, and Bogil Island — the island steeped in the legacy of poet Yun Seon-do — were chosen as pilot sites for Jeollanam-do’s stay-and-walk tourism initiative, SeomSeom Geollelrae.

Launched as part of Jeollanam-do’s Year of Island Visits, SeomSeom Geollelrae aims to move beyond quick day trips. The program blends walking routes, overnight stays, hands-on experiences, and cultural programming to create a relaxed, stay-and-explore tourism model.

Wando County’s proposal connected Cheongsando’s Slow City brand with Bogil Island’s rich historical and cultural assets, earning high marks from the evaluation panel. The county plans to combine Wando’s signature offerings—marine healing programs and humanities workshops—into stay-focused experiences lasting one night and two days or longer.

The program’s main elements include: △ walking Cheongsando’s Slow Trail — the path at Asia’s first Slow City △ marine healing programs linked with Myeongsasimni Beach and other nearby shores △ a Bogil Island humanities talk concert celebrating the spirit of Yun Seon-do △ island-style meals and guided commentary featuring direct resident participation

Wando County says the program won’t just add more walking routes — it will let visitors fully immerse themselves in the island’s nature, culture, and daily life, encouraging longer stays and deeper connections. Officials also expect the initiative to energize local tourism.

A county official said, "We’ll fine-tune the program so visitors can linger on the islands, soak up Wando’s charms, and find real rest and healing."
