Welcome to Starfield Suwon. It’s technically a mall, but calling it just a shopping center undersells it. Restaurants, cafés, a kids’ zone and cultural spaces all sit under one roof—so much so that people often joke a single day here isn’t nearly enough.

The showstopper is the Starfield Byulmadang Library, which shoots up through the mall’s center. It turns a visit into a unique experience: reading, relaxing and snapping photos right in the heart of a shopping complex.

If it’s your first time, here’s a concise guide to help you navigate without getting turned around, plus some practical tips for enjoying the Byulmadang Library.

Starfield Suwon is located at 175 Suseong-ro in Jangan-gu, Suwon, near Exit 1 of Hwaseo Station (Line 1). It’s the fifth Starfield location in Korea and spans eight stories, featuring a flagship store, open cultural areas and around 80 shops.

The mix is solid: fashion, beauty, home goods and electronics, plus a large supermarket, a cinema and indoor sports facilities. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend the whole day without stepping outside.

Official hours are daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, year-round, though individual shop hours may vary. A large parking structure connects from basement level 3 up to the 8th floor, so driving in is convenient. If you prefer transit, it’s an easy 5–6 minute walk from Hwaseo Station (Exit 1).

The mall’s highlight is the Starfield Byulmadang Library. It opened in Suwon as the second Byulmadang location after COEX Mall. Its most striking feature is the towering bookshelves that rise from the 4th to the 7th floor—about 22 meters (roughly 72 feet) high.

The design minimizes floor boundaries so the shelves fill your view from almost anywhere. From the balcony levels, you can look down and watch people, architecture and content blend into a single, captivating scene.

The Byulmadang Library is free to use from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and parking in the building is complimentary for the first six hours, so it’s easy to linger.

Soft seating, benches and tables are scattered throughout, making it a great spot to listen to music or get work done on your laptop even if you’re not reading. There’s a small performance and talk area by the balcony, so if your visit lines up with an event, you’ll get a cultural bonus. Families will appreciate the separate Byulmadang Kids area, which helps keep flows smooth when visiting with children.

For first-timers, I recommend splitting your visit into clear blocks. Mornings work great on floors 1–3 for shopping, brunch and cafés. Spend the afternoon in the Byulmadang Library on floors 4–7 for quiet time and photos. If you’re with kids, pair Byulmadang Kids with a kids’ café and indoor sports for a solid half-day plan. Adults can unwind in the library, then hit a restaurant, pub or the cinema afterward.

Starfield Suwon and its Byulmadang Library offer more than a typical mall trip. Once you soak up that mix of books, people, brands and experiences, you’ll see why it’s one of Suwon’s top indoor spots—ideal for a rainy day escape.

Planning a weekend outing, a date, or an indoor playday with the kids? Add Starfield Suwon to your itinerary and don’t skip the Byulmadang Library.
