'Hanam-i·Bangul-i' Inspired by the Lily-of-the-Valley
A Charming Pause on Your Daily Walk — and a Mini Exhibition
Hanam City is turning Misa Lake Park into a go-to spot for nighttime culture. After three years of public exhibition experience, the city is stepping up a nocturnal landscape program designed to draw people in and make evenings around the lake feel special. Hanam City announced on the 9th that it will run the nighttime exhibition Bitbangulteul on the deck in front of the stepped plaza at Misa Lake Park through June. The installation was conceived around the city’s mascot duo, Hanam-i and Bangul-i, and the city flower, the lily-of-the-valley. Rather than just a viewing experience, the exhibition is meant to be a place where people naturally pause during walks, linger and connect.
◇New Character Debuts: Baby Lily-of-the-Valley Fairy
The show’s centerpiece is a new character: the Baby Lily-of-the-Valley Fairy, joining Hanam-i and Bangul-i. Crafted in a petite, adorable scale with a sweet expression, the sculpture is aimed at families with young kids. Visitors can slip in beside it for photos.
When the sun goes down, the whole deck shifts mood. Blue Milky Way-style lighting and LED globe bulbs that recall the lily-of-the-valley come to life, painting a storybook scene. Against the city lights across the lake, the display completes a uniquely Hanam nighttime vibe.
This year marks the project’s third season. Over the past two years, the city floated massive 10-meter inflatable Hanam-i and Bangul-i figures on the lake to wide public applause. Building on that success, this year’s setup improves lighting design and visitor flow so people can get closer, enjoy more, and have a better hands-on experience.
The name Bitbangulteul suggests a tiny rest spot where the lily-of-the-valley blooms in light. The city framed the exhibition as a lyrical meeting point of urban life, nature and people. The pure, clear image of the illuminated flowers, paired with the characters’ bright smiles, is designed to spark childlike wonder and calm. Hanam City plans to keep developing this emotionally resonant nighttime content under the Bitbangulteul banner. The goal is to grow it into a signature brand that both locals and visitors love.
A Hanam City official said, "Bitbangulteul is a small rest area and exhibition designed so residents will casually encounter the city's signature brand on their everyday walks, take photos and linger. We’ll add more varied productions and storytelling to develop it into Hanam’s flagship nighttime cultural content."
