Damyang County announced that it will hold the 2nd Geumseong-myeon Gobi Mountain Wild Cherry Blossom Festival on April 4 at the Oechuje area in Geumseong-myeon.

The festival was organized to shine a spotlight on Gobi Mountain—a hidden local cherry blossom gem—and to boost community spirit and the local economy.

Unlike city cherry trees, Gobi Mountain is dotted with wild mountain cherry trees that grow naturally along the ridgeline. Their understated blooms create a soft, calming spring atmosphere, making the area an appealing healing getaway rather than a flashy urban spectacle.

The festivities kick off at 11 a.m. with an opening ceremony, followed by celebratory performances from singers Nam Jin and Han Chae-wan, plus a community sing-along contest that promises to raise the energy.

Across the site, family-friendly hands-on programs will be offered, including natural cherry-blossom soap making, flower-pressing workshops, traditional tea tastings, and rice-cake pounding. Visitors can also sample Geumseong strawberries and browse booths selling regional agricultural specialties.

Participatory attractions such as a spring-flower trekking walk along the mountain cherry blossom trail, a photo exhibition, and a love-lock experience are also planned to engage visitors. The cherry blossom path that winds along the walking trail is regarded as the festival’s highlight.

A Damyang County official said, “Gobi Mountain is still a little-known natural cherry blossom spot and is ideal for visitors seeking a peaceful, leisurely spring escape. We expect this festival to give a meaningful boost to local tourism.”
