Club Med has announced it will open Club Med Borneo Kota Kinabalu on November 16, and reservations are now open worldwide.
Club Med Borneo Kota Kinabalu is Club Med’s first major resort launch in Asia in 30 years. Nestled where Borneo’s pristine rainforests and mangrove forests meet the South China Sea, the property is designed to let guests fully immerse themselves in the island’s natural beauty.
The resort is targeting BREEAM certification, Europe’s leading green building standard. The design prioritizes energy efficiency, water-saving systems, and sustainable materials to minimize local environmental impact. Club Med will also run a “Bye Bye Plastic” campaign to cut single-use plastics and partner with local conservation groups on ecological protection programs.
As Club Med’s largest resort in Asia, the property spans roughly 17 hectares (about 42 acres) and offers around 400 rooms. A broad mix of facilities and programs completes the all-inclusive vacation experience.
Dining and drinking options include a buffet-style main restaurant, an exclusive Gourmet Club, and a main bar serving 120 all-inclusive beverages alongside handcrafted cocktails. Guests can also enjoy more than 20 land and water activities—think tennis, yoga, sailing, and even the flying trapeze—available throughout their stay.
Eco-programs such as mangrove kayaking and rainforest trekking are on the roster, along with workshops and cultural experiences focused on ecology. These offerings let visitors connect deeply with Borneo’s nature and local traditions.
A roughly 400-meter beach lies directly in front of the resort and is reserved exclusively for Club Med guests, creating a more relaxed, private vibe. The location is also prized for spectacular Kota Kinabalu sunsets.
Club Med Borneo Kota Kinabalu will feature an Exclusive Collection, the brand’s premium tier focusing on private spaces and tailored service. With a dedicated pool, lounge bar, and concierge services, the Exclusive Collection offers a more private, attentive stay.
To celebrate early-bird bookings, Club Med is offering a room-upgrade promotion for a limited 100 rooms. Eligible guests can be upgraded to Deluxe or Suite accommodations for a more special stay at the new resort. The travel period runs from November 16 through January 3, 2027. The offer applies to bookings of three nights or more and is limited by departure date, so it may sell out early.
