Why Centara Grand Hotel Osaka is the Ultimate Choice for Travelers: Spacious Rooms and Thai Hospitality

A standout stay that layers authentic Thai hospitality over the Osaka experience

Japan is almost flawless — but there’s one recurring gripe.

The food is incredible, locals are warm, and the sights are endless — but hotel rooms tend to be tiny. Even when you pay what feels like a fair price, the rooms can be uncomfortably cramped. If you’re the one who booked for the group, you might find yourself apologizing for the tight quarters.

It’s even worse with family trips. If your parents end up in a tiny room, complaints follow — and a cranky morning can derail the whole day. So picking the right hotel isn’t just a detail; it’s essential.

That’s where international hotel chains come in. Thailand’s Centara has just launched its first flagship in Osaka.

Centara Hotels & Resorts is part of Thailand’s Central Group, the country’s largest private conglomerate. Centara oversees the group’s hotel operations, including more than 34 properties in Thailand.

Centara now operates or is developing more than 90 hotels across 10 countries — from Thailand and Japan to Vietnam and the Maldives. It runs multiple brands, including luxury, midscale and resort labels, all rooted in Thai-style hospitality.

In July 2023, Centara opened its first property in Japan: Centara Grand Hotel Osaka.

Rooms that let you breathe

The hotel’s two biggest selling points are location and room size — generous rooms are a major draw for families and groups.

Room types include Deluxe, Corner, Family and Suite. Deluxe rooms offer king or twin beds and measure 27–30 m² (about 291–323 sq ft) — a practical fit for business travelers, couples and small families.

Corner rooms — a favorite for anyone who values a view — total 26. They have large windows on two sides, and standing in that corner gives you a sweeping Osaka panorama; no observation deck required.

Osaka’s skyline is generally lower than Tokyo’s, so being on the 30th floor already feels like an observation deck. The corner rooms are about 40 m² (≈ 431 sq ft), and floor-to-ceiling windows make the space feel even larger.

With the TV tucked beside the window, the whole setup feels cinematic. You’ll find yourself resisting sleep just to soak in the view a little longer.

At night, leave the curtains open. Morning sunlight floods the Osaka skyline and acts like a perfect wake-up call — suddenly, hitting snooze feels like a crime. It’s the kind of view that jolts you awake in the best way.

The hotel has 515 rooms split into three zones by floor: 6–15 'U Standard Floor', 16–25 'Ray Premium Floor', and 26–31 'Miyabi Club Floor.' Guests on the Miyabi Club Floor get access to the club lounge.

The family room pairs a king bed with a bunk bed — ideal for family stays. If you’re traveling as a group of four, request a connecting room to create one large, comfortable space.

Suites are the largest rooms at about 56 m² (≈ 603 sq ft), but the hotel only operates two. All rooms come with large windows, a bathtub, rain shower, Nespresso machine and eco-friendly amenities as standard.

Compared with many local options, Centara offers noticeably larger rooms at five-star standards but with sensible pricing. Eco-friendly materials and thoughtful in-room touches — even the room key — add to the positive first impression.

Dining with an Osaka view

The hotel doesn’t waste the views — it puts them to work.

On the 32nd floor you’ll find the club lounge. The hotel has eight food-and-beverage outlets in total, and on the 33rd floor the rooftop lounge 'Smoke & Spin' channels a baseball-and-music theme — a nod to Namba Parks’ past as a ballpark site.

On Friday nights and weekends the rooftop hosts DJ sets. From 8–11 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday DJs spin electronic and house tracks, turning the space into a lively club-like scene with both indoor seating and a terrace.

Counterbalancing the flashy rooftop is a calm fine-dining option: Kunsei Kitchen (International Brasserie KUNSEI).

Kunsei Kitchen centers on a smokehouse concept, highlighting smoked meats and seafood.

From March 7 to April 26, 2026, Kunsei Kitchen offers a weekend-only dinner course on Saturdays and Sundays. The menu spotlights Kansai vegetables, regional fruit and seasonal ingredients. Price is ¥17,500 per person (approximately 159,000 KRW; ≈ $117). Each seating is limited to 10 guests for an intimate, premium experience.

Window seats deliver panoramic night views toward Namba and Shinsaibashi. Smoked dishes pair beautifully with wine and handcrafted cocktails, making for a polished dining experience.

Rooms also feature floor-to-ceiling windows for standout city views. Guests on floors 26–31 can access the executive lounge on the 32nd floor for an elevated experience.

15-minute walk to Dotonbori — excellent accessibility

Location is a major advantage. The hotel sits in central Namba, where shopping, dining and entertainment converge.

The hotel sits next to Namba Parks and is a five-minute walk from Namba City and Takashimaya department store. Dotonbori is about a 15-minute walk. The routes are straightforward, making it perfect for evening strolls or morning runs — and even if you come back loaded with shopping from Don Quijote, the walk is easy.

The hotel connects directly to Namba Station on the second floor. From the south exit it’s about a 3-minute walk. Shinsaibashi, Dotonbori and Kuromon Market are all within walking distance.

From Kansai International Airport, the hotel is reachable in about 35 minutes via the Nankai Electric Railway Rapit limited express or airport express.

Thai-style hospitality

True to its roots, Centara brings authentic Thai-style hospitality to Japan.

The hotel’s personality shows up in its restaurants. The breakfast buffet offers a dedicated Thai corner alongside Western and Japanese selections — a fun way to taste Thailand without leaving Japan.

A tuk‑tuk parked at the first-floor restaurant entrance gives the place a playful Thai street vibe. If Osaka’s Mario Kart rides catch eyes, the tuk‑tuk here fills a similar role. Riding a Thai tuk‑tuk in the middle of Osaka is delightfully unexpected.

The tuk‑tuk is a fun pick on a sunny day — feel the breeze and enjoy everyone glancing your way. It’s a quirky, attention-grabbing little thrill.

The hotel also houses the Cenvaree spa, known worldwide for clean facilities and skilled therapists. Treatments include traditional Thai massage, facials and more, and there’s a fitness center on site.

The spa aims to restore body, mind and spirit, offering quiet relaxation in the heart of the city. Blending Western and Eastern wellness philosophies, it refreshes guests through traditional Thai massage, foot therapy and a range of other treatments.

The spa operates from 10:00 to 22:00 and features four treatment rooms, four Thai massage beds and three foot-massage chairs.
