Mission notice for the 2026 Cheonan Bread Pilgrimage BangBang Day

All eyes are on Cheonan’s signature festival: the 2026 Cheonan Bread Pilgrimage — BangBang Day. Cheonan City said on the 8th that it opened applications for 450 pilgrimage teams from April 20 through May 4, but received 1,813 entries from across the country. Of those, 865 teams applied from within Cheonan and 948 registered from outside the city, underscoring Cheonan bread’s national appeal.

The selected teams will participate in the two-day event on June 13–14. Each team will visit two designated bakeries and complete a mission that includes exploring at least one of Cheonan’s Eight Sights, a traditional market, Yuryang Food Culture Street, or a popular local restaurant. Participants are asked to post reviews on social media and register the review URLs on the official website by June 30 to help showcase Cheonan’s flavors and attractions.

On June 13, the first day of the event, a send-off ceremony will be held in the main conference hall at Cheonan City Hall. Selected teams must attend the ceremony to verify their identities and pick up a bread-pilgrimage voucher worth 50,000 KRW (approximately $37.50). Lee In-jae, head of the Cheonan branch of the Korea Bakery Association, thanked everyone who applied and said organizers are preparing to make the pilgrimage a memorable chance to visit local bakeries and taste Cheonan’s breads firsthand.

Organizers say the event is an opportunity to put Cheonan’s breads and local attractions on the national map. Participants can experience and promote the city’s many charms in person, and officials expect the festival to boost the local economy and raise the brand value of Cheonan bread.

Kim Seok-pil, acting mayor of Cheonan, asked for wide interest and participation in the 2026 Cheonan Bread Pilgrimage — BangBang Day, saying he hopes the pilgrimage teams will highlight Cheonan’s breads—made with local agricultural and livestock products—alongside the city’s tourist assets.
