On March 10, 2025, Wheesung was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. He was 43 years old.
The autopsy found no evidence of foul play.
The news came just five days before a scheduled joint concert with singer KCM, a sudden development that stunned both the music industry and the public.
Wheesung's family said they planned to direct the funds to causes that would have a positive social impact and decided to donate the full amount in his name.
Wheesung made his solo debut in April 2002 and went on to earn widespread acclaim with hits such as "Can't We?", "With Me," "I Even Considered Marriage" and "Insomnia."
