According to an MBN report on the 11th, Seoul’s Bangbae Police Station probed a male musical actor identified only as A on charges of rape by coercion and last month sent the case to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office with a recommendation to indict.
Authorities allege A committed a sexual offense in Seoul last year against a woman identified as B. After the incident, B reported it to the 112 emergency line, and officers who responded detained A at the scene.
Police say they built their case on witness statements and other evidence, concluded the allegations were substantiated, and forwarded the matter to prosecutors. A has strongly denied the accusations during police questioning.
The case is now with prosecutors; further investigation and a decision on whether to indict will determine the next steps.
Officials have not publicly disclosed A’s identity or career history, but because he is regarded as one of the country’s top musical actors, the report has drawn attention inside and outside the performing-arts community.
