History lecturer Seol Min-seok admitted his long-standing affection for the theater and film department during an appearance on JTBC’s Knowing Bros.

Seol appeared on the April 11 broadcast for a Danjong special alongside actors Lee Min-woo and Jung Tae-woo.

He recalled a childhood dream of becoming “Shakespeare,” explaining he wanted to be a multi-hyphenate creator—writing, directing and acting.

“You need to have a dream to major in theater and film,” he said. To support himself, he took a part-time job teaching social studies. That experience sparked his interest in history, and he has now taught Korean history for 30 years.

Seol said he deliberately weaves the delivery techniques and storytelling skills he learned in theater into his classes to communicate historical material more vividly. Comedian Lee Soo-geun praised the approach, noting Seol’s lectures “have acting in them,” and host Kang Ho-dong agreed that his expressiveness helps the content stick.

Reflecting on his path, Seol said he’d choose the theater and film department again if given the chance, underscoring his enduring affection for the field.
